| Description: Following in the footsteps of John Brown and his men on this historic recreation of John Brown’s procession from his headquarters in Washington County , Maryland to Harpers Ferry. Time: 7:00 P.M. |

| October 16-18, 2009 – Sesquicentennial Commemoration of John Brown’s Raid | |
| Description: Three days of public education events. focusing on the 36 hours of John Brown’s Raid on Harpers Ferry 150 years ago. The weekend will include a full slate of music, drama, scholarship, living history, family & youth activities, and ranger conducted programs. Time: Day and evening

| October 17, 2008 – “Frederick Reacts” | |
| Description: The city will recreate the confusion and alarm when news of John Brown’s Raid reached Frederick. Living historians will gather at the downtown fire companies to ring the alarm bells and relate the arrival of the first news of the raid. A dedication ceremony for a Civil War Trails Marker will take place the same morning near the old train station and then a delegation of fire and city officials will leave to take part in the events at Harpers Ferry. Time: 8:30 A.M. |

| Description:. Sponsored by the Jefferson County Black History Preservation Society, the forums will focus on John Brown and the five African American raiders. Time: 7:00 P.M.

| October 24 , 2009 –Tour of the John Blessing House | |
Description: John Frederick Blessing was a local baker and confectioner who befriended John Brown during his imprisonment in Charles Town. Prior to his execution, Brown inscribed and presented his jailhouse Bible to Blessing. The Blessing house is now owned by the Jefferson County Black History Preservation Society. Currently the house is not open to the public on a regular basis. Join a guide for a special sesquicentennial tour of the John Blessing house. Time: 10:00 A.M.
